FRENCH STYLE EXAMPLES
The Chateaux de Chambord is the biggest and possibly the finest castle in the Loire valley, of Tours, France. It was originally built as a hunting lodge by François I. The roofline is exeptionally busy with 365 chimneys and 800 turrets, but these are all located above a the lowest roofline, creating an architecture of "orderly chaos".

THE FRENCH VERNACULAR
French vernacular architecture commonly features some light quoining around the fenestration, with well proportioned doors and windows, and lightly decorated parapets.
FRENCH RESIDENTIAL DETAILS
As stunning as the big castles are, the French country residential architecture is very pleasing too. Rusticated walls, small pane windows with flat arches, and an abundance of planting on gravel creates a soft architectural effect.
