MODERN CAPE DUTCH

TOKARA The Tokara wine farm buildings are a bold example of this architectural style. The gables are extremely simple with no ornamentation whatsoever. The walls deviate from the classic white, and appear to be of rendered plaster, rather than paint. Strong rustication of the base with stone work, contrasts with areas of large modern glass windows using charcoal aluminium frames. The roofs are at 30 degrees rather than the traditional 45 degree.
