HOW MUCH DO MOST SOUTH AFRICAN ARCHITECTS CHARGE FOR BUILDING PLANS?

The "standard rates" issued by SACAP in terms of square meter price, work out to:

5% of building cost

for muncipal approved plans (when calculating 5% of R12,500/m²)

and:

3% of building cost

for acting as Principal Agent with JBCC building agreement (when calculating 3% of R12,500/m²).

RATES AT BEVERLEY HUI ARCHITECTS:

R600/m²

For municipal approved plans. We convert the 5% standard to a per square meter rate, assumming a very conservative building cost of R12000/m².

R360/m²

For architectural services site work services.

To be used with Master Builder's agreement. Architectural services include site visits, but excluding Principal Agent monitoring duties. We provide assistance with tender adjudication and a partial interior design service instead which is of greater value, when used with a competent builder.

Note that the price is applicable to new buildings over 300m² only.
